Biography (Short Version)
Pianist, Composer, Teacher & Psychologist (PhD)
Apart from a 2-year hiatus during her PhD training in psychology, Emilie Lin performed actively from the time she moved to the United States from Taiwan at age 14 until she started a family. She graduated magna cum laude and Phil Beta Kappa with distinction in psychology, with honors in music performance, and won the concerto competition from Carleton College. A full scholarship recipient at the University of Michigan, Emilie was also a winner of the concerto competition during her first year as a master's student. She maintains her performance skills through performing annually at her studio recital, occasionally at the University of Michigan and PianoTexas International Festival & Academy (2007 & 2019). While Emilie enjoys performing classical music the most, she listens to a variety of genres. Since 2020, Emilie has composed beyond educational piano music published by The FJH Music Company, expanded her artistic expressions with instrumental and accessible piano music in the genres of contemporary classical/new age, jazz fusion, and EDM. Some of her contemporary influencers are Ennio Morricone, John Barry, David Foster, David Brubeck, George Shearing, Enya, Jef Martens, Ludovico Einaudi, Thomas Bergersen, Alexis Ffrench, Yiruma, and Joseph Koo Kar-Fai. |
